Oral Glucose Challenge Test

I just had my OGCT or Oral Glucose Challenge Test this morning. I was supposed to go on Tuesday, the day of the scheduled appointment with my doctor, so that I only need to exert much effort once. Good thing I called Patient First in Glorietta since I always go there for appointments and laboratory tests.
The OCGT is given around 24th to 28th week of pregnancy to test for gestational diabetes. I already forgot the procedure regarding this test so I called the clinic yesterday to ask how much is the tolerance test. I thought OGTT and OCGT were the same. But after I inquired, they told me that with OGTT, one has to take 8-10 hours of fasting while with OCGT, no fasting is needed. So I told them that I will take the 50gm OCGT as what my doctor told me. They also told me that the result will be available the next day if the test was taken in the afternoon. Due to this, I decided to go this morning and that I’ll just get the result on Tuesday.
